Job description

Are you a vet with a passion for thorough medical workups in a GP setting? Come and join our very sociable team at Cheshire Pet Medical Centre, where we see a very varied caseload at our first opinion practice. The successful candidate will be working with more experienced vets as well as new/recent graduates. Confidence to work sole charge and help lead junior vets is essential. The role will consist of a mixture of consulting, medical workups and surgery. We always try to nurture areas of interest for all our vets.

Rota patterns that work for you

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.

The rota will include working 40 hours over 4 days per week (9:00am – 7:00pm working days with paid 30 min lunchbreak). We will consider part-time applicants. Saturday morning consults are on shared rota, currently 1:6. The nurses do our evening and weekend inpatient checks, but vets are on a rota to be available in the rare instance they are required. There will be no out of hours as this is covered by Vets Now.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our modern, forward-thinking clinic, with staff who are dedicated to offering the best care to the small animal pets of Cheshire. We strive to be the leaders in our field for staff well-being and are committed to improving our practice sustainability.

Facilities include CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, dental radiography, in-house blood analysis, multiparameter monitoring, and a purpose-designed feline-only clinic. We are proud to be an ISFM Silver cat friendly practice. We are based in a semi-rural location, on the outskirts of Sandbach, Cheshire, near M6 motorway links.

Meet like-minded professionals

Our team and our lovely client base make this practice. Altogether we have 7 Veterinary Surgeons, 10 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses and 5 Receptionists. We also have a visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon with Cert Small Animal Orthopaedics FRCVS, as well as Nurse certificates in anaesthesia, ECC, medicine, surgery & feline medicine. We do lots of social activities as a team as we really do like each other and as cheesy as it sounds we consider ourselves a work family!

Don't just take our word for it though, here is what one of the team has to say:

"CheshirePet Sandbach has been a really special place to work. There is a great culture of everyone working together to provide the best care possible to our patients and continually striving to improve. I have been really supported in working towards my certificate and the facilities are fantastic for a first opinion clinic, especially with diagnostic imaging (CT, excellent endoscopy, ultrasound, dental radiography). Generally, the clients are lovely and wanting to work up patients to a good level. The team is what gives CheshirePet its heart and are what makes it hard to leave, they really are a wonderful bunch."
