Virginia Veterinary Centers – Fredericksburg is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Surgeon to establish and lead Surgery services within our collaborative, multi-disciplinary specialty and emergency hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a surgeon who wants the autonomy to shape a service while having the support, infrastructure, and referral relationships of an established specialty hospital behind them.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop the Surgery service around your clinical interests, establish referral relationships throughout the region, and help shape how the service grows. With Emergency and Critical Care, diagnostic imaging, and specialty support all under one roof, you’ll have a strong clinical foundation and collaborative environment from which to build.

In your day-to-day, you will:
· Establish and lead the Surgery service at Virginia Veterinary Centers – Fredericksburg.
· Develop clinical protocols, workflows, and surgical offerings based on your expertise and the needs of the local referral community.
· Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians and develop a sustainable referral base throughout the region.
· Collaborate closely with Emergency and Critical Care and other specialty services to provide comprehensive care for complex patients.
· Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
· Help identify opportunities to grow and develop the Surgery service while maintaining a high standard of clinical care.
· Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
· Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
What You Bring
· DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
· Board Certification in Surgery or Residency Trained in Surgery.
· Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
· A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
