Job description

High-Impact Surgical Veterinarian (HQHVSN)

Location: Delaware, OH

Make a Bigger Impact with Every Surgery

If you became a veterinarian to improve the lives of animals and strengthen your community, this is an opportunity to do both—every day.

We are an award-winning, privately owned, mission-driven veterinary hospital dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable veterinary care. As one of Central Ohio's leading veterinary hospitals and a nationally recognized leader in high-volume spay/neuter, we've built our practice around exceptional medicine—not corporate production goals. Here, you'll have the support, autonomy, and resources to focus on patient care and community impact rather than meeting financial quotas.

About the Role

This position focuses primarily on surgery, with an emphasis on High-Quality, High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN), while also providing limited outpatient and inpatient care as needed (in the form of limited drop-off/inpatient appointments). You'll work alongside an experienced, highly trained team in a fast-paced, supportive environment where your expertise directly improves access to care and helps reduce pet overpopulation.

Our hospital provides a wide range of services, including wellness care, urgent care, dentistry, radiology, in-house diagnostics, general and emergency surgery, hospitalization, hospice, and end-of-life care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats (approximately 30–35 surgeries per day)
  • Perform additional soft tissue procedures such as pyometra surgery, mass removals, enucleations, cystotomies, gastropexies, entropion repairs, and other general surgeries
  • Maintain exceptional standards of patient care, anesthesia, safety, and surgical efficiency
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to deliver outstanding patient care
  • Support our mission of expanding access to affordable veterinary services within the community
Qualifications
  • DVM (or equivalent) with Ohio licensure or eligibility
  • HQHVSN experience preferred, but training is available for the right candidate
  • Candidates without HQHVSN experience must be willing to complete advanced training, including a one-week ASPCA HQHVSN training program in North Carolina
  • Strong surgical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to animal welfare
  • New graduates are welcome to apply if committed to developing advanced surgical proficiency
What We Offer
  • Monday-Friday schedule (8:00 AM-4:00 PM or earlier if/when surgeries are completed)
  • Highly competitive salary
  • Access to medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays
  • Continuing education allowance and professional development opportunities
  • Paid licensing, DEA registration, and professional dues
  • Loan repayment assistance (where applicable)
  • A collaborative, privately owned practice where your medical judgment is respected and your success is measured by the difference you make—not production numbers
  • A mission-focused culture where your work improves the lives of thousands of animals every year

If you're looking for a surgical career where you can practice excellent medicine, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and make a lasting impact—without the financial pressures often associated with corporate veterinary medicine we'd love to hear from you.
