Overview
United Veterinary Care is delighted to host veterinary students for externships! This valuable clinical experience allows you to apply classroom knowledge in a real animal hospital setting. Our externships are designed exclusively for veterinary students at AVMA-accredited veterinary schools in their clinical years, typically 3rd or 4th year. We offer programs at various partner hospitals, with stipends available to help offset travel and lodging costs, unless prohibited by your school.
Founded in 1953, Animal Clinic Inc. of Chattanooga has over 60 years of experience providing exemplary veterinary services. We operate two full-service clinics in Chattanooga, TN, and are AAHA-accredited, ensuring the highest standards of care. Our team emphasizes mentorship and learning opportunities for vet students, making Animal Clinic East an excellent place to expand your skills in a supportive environment.

We value your professional goals and aim to tailor your externship experience accordingly. You will participate in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, and routine medical appointments under supervision. We encourage active participation, case discussions, and research to enhance your learning. Our mentors will guide you through case management, helping you build confidence and skills in veterinary medicine.
Externs are invited to select one case per week for further research and discussion, fostering a collaborative learning environment. We enjoy hosting externs and look forward to supporting your growth as a future veterinarian.
