Job summary

UNMC seeks a veterinary technician supervisor to oversee surgical and imaging facilities, inventory control, and peri-operative services. You will ensure compliance with USDA, IACUC, and AAALAC policies, provide technical assistance to researchers, and support animal care responsibilities on site in Omaha, NE.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School education or equivalent
• Two years related post high school education/experience
• Must carry pager or mobile phone during working hours
• Essential personnel; may work weekends/holidays/overtime
• Follow SOPs and regulatory guidelines for animal care

Responsibilities

• Oversight, scheduling and maintenance of surgical/imaging facilities and equipment
• Monitor inventory of veterinary drugs and supplies
• Perform sterilization services and assist with research procedures
• Provide peri-operative services and data collection; assist in anesthesia
• Manage breeding colony and provide animal health records
• Train UNMC personnel in technical/aseptic procedures
• Operate transport vehicles as needed; ensure regulatory compliance
