Job summary

Proven Recruiting is assisting a biotech client in San Diego with a temp-to-hire Veterinary Research Technician role. You will support in vivo studies, monitor animals, and assist with anesthesia, exams, and sample collection as part of a dedicated preclinical team.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in veterinary or related lab settings, a relevant degree, and high attention to detail. This on-site position offers hands-on growth within a diverse, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of veterinary or related industry experience, preferably within laboratory animal research or preclinical studies.
• Experience with anesthesia administration, animal monitoring, specimen collection, IV catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and emergency veterinary care across multiple species.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Veterinary Sciences, Veterinary Technology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Pharmacology.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary support for in vivo studies, including physical examinations, anesthesia administration, animal monitoring, specimen collection, and recovery care.
• Support colony health programs through routine veterinary care, annual exams, vaccinations, dental cleanings, and health surveillance activities.
• Assist with surgical preparation, aseptic techniques, suturing, and emergency care while maintaining compliance with SOPs, GLPs, and quality requirements.
