Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Poultry Disease Program Facilitator to support state and federal poultry health initiatives across North Carolina. You will schedule testing, conduct inspections and audits, and ensure compliance with NCDA&CS Veterinary Division regulations.

  • Knowledge of animal disposal methodologies/technologies and practical implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate state and federal poultry disease programs (NPIP/BCAP) through scheduling/testing and audits.
  • Oversee compliance with NCDA&CS Veterinary Division regulations.
  • Investigate and document complaints; draft official warnings and civil penalties as needed.
  • Conduct on-site audits and test visits across assigned counties; travel required.

Job description

  • Facilitate state and federal poultry disease programs, primarily NPIP and BCAP, through independent flock scheduling/testing and corporate audits/inspections
  • Oversee compliance with laws and regulations under the NCDA&CS Veterinary Division
  • Investigate and document complaints
  • Draft official warnings and civil penalties for improper disposal
  • Perform animal emergency preparedness, response, and management duties
  • Provide expertise on depopulation, disposal, and disease biosecurity during natural disasters or disease outbreak responses
  • Build relationships within the poultry industry and serve as a point of contact during emergency response situations
  • Travel throughout the assigned counties and conduct audits and test visits
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or high school or GED diploma and four years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to speak to the structure of the poultry industry in the United States, including species operation types and product flow
  • Experience applying on-farm biosecurity principles in animal agriculture
  • Understanding of frequent biosecurity pitfalls within the poultry industry
  • Working knowledge of animal disposal methodologies/technologies and their practical implementation in the poultry industry
  • Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and self-schedule
  • Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate at their own expense to one of the listed counties served
  • Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) for this position
  • Significant travel, including some overnight trips, may be required
  • Evening and weekend responsibilities may be required
