Description of Work Unit

Veterinary Teaching Hospital
The successful candidate will join an internationally recognized diagnostic imaging program comprised of two small animal and two large animal faculty radiologists, six to eight residents, eight technologists, three office staff, and a PACS administrator. The program is located in the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) in Fort Collins, Colorado, with an annual imaging caseload of nearly 16,000. The CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a progressive and collaborative workplace with 28 veterinary specialties and dedicated residents, students, and technologists working towards a common goal.

Required Job Qualifications
  • American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ACVO) or European College of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ECVO) board certification or eligibility by start date.
  • Eligibility to obtain a State of Colorado Academic Veterinarian license.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Demonstrated history of excellence in clinical work.
  • Demonstrated collegiality and contributions to a high-performance team.
  • Experience in the instruction of veterinary students, interns and residents.
Job Duties
  • Conduct diagnostic testing for eye conditions; document information for case studies and animal patient reports; and provide specialty consulting services regarding eye issues.
  • This position is responsible for patient and client care for small animal patients presented to the Ophthalmology Service.
  • Duties will involve the coordination of the ophthalmology service, providing clinical care of patients, teaching veterinary medical students, training ophthalmology residents and interns, and consultation with referring veterinarians and pet owners.
  • Daily duties will include oversight of three motivated and talented ophthalmology residents, as well as hospital interns and veterinary students.
  • Participation in weekly resident rounds and daily case rounds will be encouraged.
  • Other duties include but are not limited to: treating various eye conditions, ranging from glaucoma to conjunctivitis, cataracts and corneal ulcers; performing routine animal eye exams; performing surgical procedures, etc.
