Job summary

Veterinary Cancer Group in Culver City is seeking a veterinary technician to join our oncology team. The role involves administering chemotherapy to dogs and cats, venipuncture, IV placements, meds, and supporting diagnostic procedures.

Ideal candidate has 2+ years as a vet tech; RVT preferred though not required; strong communication and detail orientation; training provided for chemotherapy and cross-training across hospital areas.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience.
• RVT license preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of veterinary medicine and terminology.
• Prior chemotherapy experience desired, but willing to train the right candidate.
• Strong verbal and written skills.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to communicate calmly, clearly and effectively with staff and clients.
• Ability to handle high stress situations.
• Willingness to cross train in other areas of the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy for dogs and cats.
• Venipuncture and IV catheterization; administer IV/IM/SQ injections.
• Provide fluid therapy and drug calculations.
• Animal handling and restraint.
• Obtain, run and process diagnostic tests.
• Administer and fill medications.
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring when trained.
• Coordinate patient care.
• Assist with radiographs or ultrasonography prep.
• Communicate complex information clearly to clients.
• Assist in exams and prepare patients; present estimates.
• Maintain medical records.
• Ezyvet experience is a plus.
• Multi-task in evolving environment.
• Light housekeeping and restocking.
