Job summary

Veterinary Cancer Group OC is seeking a Veterinary Technician Lead in California, Aliso Viejo, to oversee chemotherapy preparation, administration, and patient monitoring for oncology cases. The role partners with veterinarians, technicians, and client service staff to ensure safe, compassionate care while adhering to hazardous drug handling standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of clinical veterinary experience, strong venipuncture and catheter skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of clinical veterinary experience.
• Strong venipuncture and catheter placement skills.
• Experience working with critically ill patients.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and restrain animals up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinary oncologists with the evaluation and treatment of cancer patients.
• Prepare patients for chemotherapy treatments and diagnostic procedures.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after chemotherapy administration.
• Collect blood, urine, and other diagnostic samples as directed; perform venipuncture and catheter placement.
• Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
• Maintain chemotherapy logs and ensure proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous medications.
