Job summary

Evolution Veterinary Specialists in Lakewood, CO is seeking a Veterinary Oncologist (DACVIM) to diagnose, treat, and manage cancer in veterinary patients using surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other advanced therapies. You will oversee individualized treatment plans and work closely with primary care veterinarians and a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced oncology care following ACVIM guidelines and manage a strong caseload.
• Collaborate with specialists, ER doctors, technicians, referring veterinarians, and clients to develop individualized treatment plans and ensure comprehensive care and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records, treatment plans, and client estimates while balancing each patient’s medical needs with the client’s financial considerations.
• Lead, mentor, and support oncology technicians and technician assistants while actively participating in hospital rounds, department meetings, team-building activities, and continuing education.
• Contribute to the growth of the Oncology service through community outreach, Lunch & Learn, marketing events, and ongoing relationship-building with referring veterinary practices.

Salary: $185,000+ (base with additional production compensation with no negative accrual)

Your Role as a Veterinary Oncologist

As a vital member of our Oncology team, you'll play a hands‑on role in diagnosing, treating, and managing cancer in veterinary patients, utilizing advanced therapies including surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other specialized treatments. You'll develop and oversee individualized treatment plans, collaborate closely with primary care veterinarians and our multidisciplinary team, and communicate compassionately with pet owners throughout their pet's cancer journey. You'll build and manage a diverse oncology caseload, utilize state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic and treatment technology, and contribute to the continued growth of our oncology service through education, collaboration, and exceptional patient care. You’ll use your expertise to:

Requirements

Required:

Schedule

Specialty doctors are expected to work 4 x 10‑hour shifts alongside their department medical team. Hours and days dependent on case load and overall needs of the hospital. Further schedule details will be discussed and outlined in the contract for employment agreement.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role is physically active and fast‑paced. You’ll need to:

• Lift up to 50 lbs frequently
• Kneel, stoop, crouch, and be on your feet for long periods
• Operate medical and office equipment
• Work around biological hazards and cleaning agents
• Communicate clearly in noisy environments
