Job summary

Evolution Veterinary Specialists, Inc. in Lakewood, Colorado seeks a veterinary surgeon to provide advanced surgical care, perform routine and emergency procedures, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

You will manage a diverse caseload, communicate with clients and referring veterinarians, and contribute to ongoing education and hospital growth in a fast-paced, compassionate environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced soft tissue, orthopedic, and emergency surgical procedures.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage surgical cases from consultation through recovery.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical technology.
• Collaborate with specialists, emergency clinicians, technicians, and referring veterinarians.
• Communicate treatment plans, estimates, and follow-up care with clients.
• Maintain accurate medical records and participate in hospital rounds and meetings.
• Mentor technical staff and support continuing education and hospital outreach.
• Deliver compassionate, ethical, and high-quality patient care.

Salary: $185,000-$250,000 (base with additional production compensation with no negative accrual)

Your Role as a Veterinary Surgeon

As a vital member of our Surgery team, you'll play a hands‑on role in delivering advanced surgical care to patients, performing both routine and emergency procedures, collaborating with our multidisciplinary team, and utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical technology to achieve the best possible outcomes. You'll build and manage a diverse surgical caseload, communicate closely with referring veterinarians and clients, mentor and support technical staff, and contribute to the continued growth of our surgery service through education, collaboration, and exceptional patient care. Requirements

• Colorado Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) License

Schedule

Specialty doctors are generally expected to work four (4) 10-hour shifts per week alongside their department's medical team. Scheduled days and hours are based on caseload and the operational needs of the hospital. We are also open to considering part-time and locum veterinarians. Additional schedule details will be discussed and outlined in the employment agreement.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role is physically active and fast-paced. You’ll need to:

• Lift up to 50 lbs frequently
• Kneel, stoop, crouch, and be on your feet for long periods
• Operate medical and office equipment
• Work around biological hazards and cleaning agents
• Communicate clearly in noisy environments
