Job summary

Cladda Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Team in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Veterinary Oncologist to join our growing oncology service within a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital. The role offers the opportunity to build and mentor an oncology team, lead multimodal cancer care with diagnostics, chemotherapy, and collaboration with surgery, internal medicine, and radiology.

Board-certified (DACVIM-Oncology) or board-eligible candidates are encouraged to apply; Virginia license required;

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD with completion of an accredited medical oncology residency.
• Board certification with DACVIM-Oncology preferred; board-eligible candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of oncology patients including diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning for solid tumors and hematologic malignancies.
• Administer and oversee chemotherapy protocols, coordinate with surgery, internal medicine, and radiology on multimodal plans.
• Perform and interpret cytology, biopsy planning, and staging imaging.
• Collaborate with the emergency team on shared and transferred cases.
• Build and mentor a technical oncology support team and ensure chemotherapy safety protocols.
• Serve as a resource for referring veterinarians and communicate prognosis and options.
• Contribute to rounds, mentorship, and development of hospital oncology protocols.
