Chi Dog is seeking a Veterinary Nutrition & Professional Services Specialist to leverage veterinary knowledge daily while transitioning into the business side of pet health and nutrition. This remote role involves significant independent travel, conferences across the country, and direct work with pet parents and veterinary professionals.
You’ll support clients, manage partnerships, and help with data and operations.
Remote | Full-Time | Approximately 9–13 U.S. Conferences Annually
Are you an experienced veterinary technician who loves veterinary medicine but is ready to take your career beyond the clinic?
Chi Dog is looking for a Veterinary Nutrition & Professional Services Specialist to join our growing team. This role is designed for someone who wants to use their veterinary knowledge every day while transitioning into the business side of the pet health and nutrition industry.
You’ll work directly with pet parents, veterinary professionals, and the Chi Dog team—helping clients navigate their pets’ nutritional needs, representing Chi Dog at veterinary conferences across the country, supporting veterinary partnerships, and assisting with the operational work that keeps those relationships running smoothly.
This is a remote position with significant independent travel and reports directly to Chi Dog’s Chief Operating Officer.
The role is approximately 50% client and nutritional support and 50% veterinary partnerships, administrative work, data management, and conference responsibilities. The balance will vary depending on conference schedules and business needs.
You’ll spend a significant portion of your time speaking directly with pet parents by phone and through digital support channels.
You’ll listen to each client’s individual situation, gather relevant information about their dog or cat—including medical history, current concerns, dietary needs, medications when relevant, and their veterinarian’s recommendations—and help them understand which Chi Dog diet may be most appropriate based on Chi Dog’s established nutritional guidelines and product recommendations.
You’ll be expected to:
Approximately half of the role will involve supporting Chi Dog’s veterinary relationships and internal operations.
Responsibilities may include:
Previous experience with Chi Dog’s specific software is not required. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with technology and can learn new programs quickly.
This position includes travel to approximately 9–13 veterinary conferences throughout the United States each year.
You must be comfortable traveling independently and confidently navigating:
Conference travel may include weekends and multi-day trips.
Chi Dog covers business travel expenses. Employees should not be expected to personally absorb the cost of traveling for the company.
Company-paid or reimbursed travel includes airfare, hotels, baggage fees, rental vehicles, rideshare/ground transportation, and other approved business-travel expenses. Meals are covered through Chi Dog’s established per-diem policy. Any personal meal spending above the provided per diem is the employee’s responsibility.
We’re looking for someone who is resourceful, adaptable, organized, personable, and highly self-directed.
Because this is a remote position with independent travel, you need to be comfortable working without constant supervision. When something unexpected happens, your first instinct should be to assess the situation, identify possible solutions, and take appropriate action.
The right person can also recognize the difference between a problem they can solve independently and something that needs to be escalated.
You love veterinary medicine, but you’re ready for something different from traditional clinical practice.
You still want your veterinary knowledge to matter.
You enjoy talking to pet owners and helping them understand complicated information.
You’re interested in nutrition and the business side of the veterinary industry.
You’re comfortable picking up the phone and having real conversations with clients.
You’re the person who can land in an unfamiliar city, pick up a rental car, find the hotel and convention center, solve an unexpected problem, and keep moving.
You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to get your work done.
You enjoy learning new technology and aren’t intimidated by unfamiliar software.
And you’re excited by the idea of building a long-term career in the veterinary and pet nutrition industry rather than leaving veterinary medicine altogether.
This position offers an experienced veterinary professional the opportunity to transition into the business side of the industry while continuing to use their veterinary knowledge every day.
As Chi Dog grows, this role may offer opportunities to expand into areas such as veterinary professional services, veterinary partnerships, client experience, education, operations, and team leadership.
