Job summary

Animal Medical Center of Seattle, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support the neurology team and provide high-quality care for animals with neurological disorders. You will assist in examinations, restrain patients, administer meds, and contribute to post-operative care.

The role requires at least two years of veterinary experience, strong communication, and the ability to handle a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of veterinary experience (neurology or other specialty experience preferred).
• Experience with advanced diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT) is a plus but not required.
• Ability to use basic computer functions and learn veterinary software.
• Ability to communicate professionally and remain composed under stress.

Responsibilities

• Restrain and lift animals during examinations and treatments.
• Display competency in the general knowledge and nursing skills required to care for patients.
• Assist the veterinary neurologist in conducting neurological examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Take steps to maintain patient comfort through a clean and comfortable environment.
• Prepare and maintain equipment for neurology procedures.
• Assist in patient procedures and help provide post-operative care.
• Bend, kneel, stoop, and stand for long periods of time; individually and frequently lift patients and inventory up to 40 pounds.
• Administer medications as directed by the neurologist.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Collaborate with other veterinary professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Perform non-subjective laboratory work; proficient in the use of laboratory equipment including (but not limited to): Catalyst, ProCyte, iSTAT, SCA2000.
• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.
