Job summary

Murray State University is seeking a Laboratory Technician at the Breathitt Veterinary Center in Hopkinsville, KY. The role involves collecting samples, performing standard laboratory procedures, and documenting results to aid in disease identification.

You will conduct antibiotic susceptibility testing, use MALDI-TOF for organism identification, and maintain equipment and inventory while complying with the Quality Management System. A BS in Biology/Microbiology or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of laboratory experience.
• Familiar with collegiate level scientific processes.
• Analytical ability; ability to plan and organize analytical processes.

Responsibilities

• Collects and organizes samples for testing.
• Performs laboratory procedures and communicates findings.
• Identifies bacterial or fungal organisms causing disease.
• Performs Antibiotic Susceptibility testing using Sensititre ARIS system.
• Uses MALDI-TOF to identify organisms.
• Maintains inventory and orders consumables for the section.
• Documents findings in the LIMS.
• Adheres to the Quality Management System.
