Job summary

The Breathitt Veterinary Center in Hopkinsville, KY seeks a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine to join its laboratory liaison team. The role coordinates diagnostic samples, tests, and case reports while maintaining high quality and regulatory compliance.

Candidates should have strong communication and supervisory skills, be capable of managing multiple tasks, and be eligible for veterinary licensure in Kentucky.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent required.
  • Two years' diagnostic laboratory experience preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a veterinary license in the state of Kentucky.
  • Strong communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
  • On-site position at Breathitt Veterinary Center in Hopkinsville, KY; occasional after-hours and weekend duty may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with referring veterinarians, owners, staff, food producers, government agencies, and other laboratories.
  • Receive diagnostic samples for testing and coordinate case history details.
  • Review and coordinate laboratory cases; release diagnostic reports with accuracy and clarity.
  • Supervise shipping and receiving; ensure Receiving Area is staffed during business hours.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements; develop new procedures as needed.
  • Participate in quality management, biosafety, and biosecurity programs.
  • Coordinate disease notifications to appropriate authorities.
  • Develop Continuing Education programs for veterinarians and educators; invite speakers and sponsors.
  • Provide tours and educational programs for students and stakeholders.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and outreach to veterinarians, farmers and pet owners.
  • Perform special projects as determined by the Director.
