Virginia Veterinary Centers - Short Pump in Richmond, VA is seeking a Veterinary Medical Oncologist for a full-time permanent position. You will manage a diverse oncology caseload within a collaborative multi-specialty hospital, supported by state-of-the-art equipment and a dedicated team.

Requirements include a DVM or equivalent and board certification or residency in Medical Oncology, plus excellent communication and teamwork.

• Board Certification in Medical Oncology or Residency trained in Medical Oncology.

Responsibilities

• Manage oncology cases in collaboration with Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, and Critical Care.
• Oversee chemotherapy protocols and ensure compliance with USP 800 safety standards.
• Support daily client communication, including treatment updates, medication refills, and question triage.
• Mentor chemo-trained technicians, assistants, and support staff.
• Pursue professional growth opportunities such as ultrasound training, ECT training, or clinical trial coordination.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities to support comprehensive oncology care.
• Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians through clear communication and continuity of care.
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

Compensation: Prosal model with base ranging from $200,000 to $230,000 and 25% production.

Join an established Medical Oncology service within a collaborative, multi-specialty hospital where advanced medicine and team-based care come together. At Virginia Veterinary Centers – Short Pump, you’ll work alongside experienced specialists and emergency clinicians while managing a diverse oncology caseload with the support of a comprehensive specialty team.

Our specialty team includes Surgery, Neurology, Medical Oncology, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Critical Care, and Emergency Medicine, creating opportunities for close collaboration across disciplines and coordinated care for complex patients.

The hospital is equipped with advanced technology, including a 1.5T MRI, LINAC, CT, C-arm, and CT cone-beam, providing the diagnostic and treatment capabilities needed to support sophisticated oncology care. Our 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care team also provides seamless support for urgent and complex cases.
