Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a Veterinary Medical Oncologist for a Full-Time position at Care Center Dayton in Dayton, OH. You will lead oncology cases, oversee chemotherapy protocols, and mentor staff within a collaborative, advanced surgical and medical team.

You will participate in growth opportunities, maintain high standards of client communication, and contribute to a culture of learning, mentorship, and compassionate cancer care for companion animals.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with licensure eligibility.
  • Board certification in veterinary oncology or residency training in veterinary oncology.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills for managing complex oncology cases.
  • Excellent communication with a collaborative and client-centered approach.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-focused cancer care and quality of life.
  • Mentorship, continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing specialty medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Manage oncology cases in collaboration with Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, and Critical Care.
  • Oversee chemotherapy protocols and ensure USP 800 safety compliance.
  • Support daily client communication, treatment updates, refills, and triage.
  • Mentor chemo-trained technicians, assistants, and support staff.
  • Pursue growth opportunities such as ultrasound training or clinical trial coordination.
  • Work with veterinarians, technicians, and teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners in stressful situations.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration and learning.

In your day to day, you will:
  • Manage oncology cases in close collaboration with Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, and Critical Care
  • Oversee chemotherapy protocols and ensure compliance with USP 800 safety standards
  • Support daily client communication, including treatment updates, refills, and question triage
  • Mentor chemo trained technicians, assistants, and support staff
  • Pursue growth opportunities such as ultrasound training, ECT training, or clinical trial coordination
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations
  • Contribute to a positive, team focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning
What You Bring
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure
  • Board Certification in Veterinary Medical Oncology or residency training in Veterinary Medical Oncology
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills with experience managing complex oncology cases
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and client centered approach
  • A commitment to compassionate, patient focused cancer care and quality of life
