Job summary

PetVet Care Centers in Vienna, VA operates a 24-hour specialty and emergency practice and is seeking a Medical Director (Internist or ER DVM) to lead a team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care and communicate effectively with clients and staff.

The role reports to Hospital and Regional Managers, offers collaboration with specialists, and includes generous compensation with an annual stipend.

Qualifications

• Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university.
• 1-year rotational internship in small animal medicine, surgery, ER.
• Completed a 3-year AVMA approved residency program.
• Current State Veterinary License.
• DEA registration must be obtained and maintained.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality veterinary care.
• Excellent communication skills with staff and clients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high quality progressive veterinary care and set medical standards.
• Direct policies pertaining to medical practice and teamwork.
• Coordinate with leadership to update hospital inventory and budgets.
• Oversee patient care, records, and collateral communications.
• Lead regular doctor meetings and daily rounds when possible.
• Perform duties assigned by Hospital Management.
