Job summary

Desort, a growing veterinary practice in Palmdale, CA, seeks an experienced DVM to assume the Veterinary Medical Director role. You will provide expert medical care while guiding clinical standards and mentoring the veterinary team to drive growth and excellence.

You will maintain an active clinical caseload, collaborate with leadership to enhance workflows, and support recruitment and ongoing professional development of staff.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Active veterinary license or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.
• DEA registration and other credentials as applicable.
• Several years of clinical veterinary experience; leadership or mentoring preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out high-quality medical, surgical, diagnostic, and preventive care for patients.
• Lead medical standards and clinical care at the hospital.
• Mentor and support associate veterinarians and team members.
• Foster a collaborative, positive hospital culture and team development.
• Review cases and medical records to improve patient outcomes and standards.
• Collaborate with practice leadership to optimize workflows, scheduling, and hospital performance.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of staff.
• Assist with compliance, equipment, and controlled substances protocols.
• Maintain a clinical caseload while balancing leadership duties.
• Participate in continuing education, team meetings, and community outreach.
