Veterinary Rotating Internship in Equine and/or Bovine Medicine

Thrive Pet Healthcare offers a Veterinary Rotating Internship in Equine and/or Bovine Medicine – after completing veterinary school, spend one year training in emergency & specialty care. You will be prepared to pursue additional specialty training or general practice/ambulatory positions.

Positions begin June 2027 at the following locations:

• Equine – Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, Snohomish, WA
• Bovine – Elgin Veterinary Hospital, Elgin, TX (near Austin)

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to obtain a veterinary license in the United States and start by June 14, 2027. Applicants must also obtain a veterinary license in Washington State and hold a valid driver’s license by the start date.

Equine Internship – Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital

Our rotating internship combines hospital and ambulatory work, with mentorship from boarded surgeons, internists, and experienced veterinarians.

Key responsibilities:

• Primary case responsibility under senior clinician supervision
• Daily case assessment, medical record completion, case presentation during daily rounds
• Diagnostics, anesthesia administration, surgical and medical procedure support
• Monthly journal club participation
• Ambulatory duties: dentals, lameness exams, reproductive work, podiatry

The schedule includes off time on weekends and protected weekday/weeknight time. The facility offers comprehensive surgical suites, laboratory services, advanced imaging, and more.

Bovine Internship – Elgin Large Animal Hospital

Interns will gain hands‑on experience in equine medicine with emphasis on orthopedic surgery, lameness, reproduction, and emergency/critical care. The caseload includes racing quarter horses and sports‑medicine cases. Mentorship focuses on building confidence to practice independently.
