Job summary

PVESC in Portland, Maine, is seeking a Veterinary Laboratory Assistant to join our fast-paced laboratory team on a part-time basis. You'll process lab samples (blood work, cytologies, urinalyses), coordinate send-out diagnostics with outside laboratories, and maintain accurate medical records.

Work two 10-hour days (one weekday and one weekend day) with some holidays, in a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Veterinary or laboratory experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostics.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Medical records and data-entry experience.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Process lab samples, including blood work, cytologies and urinalyses.
• Coordinate send-out diagnostics with outside laboratories.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Identify and communicate diagnostic abnormalities.
• Support multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.
