Paws & Claws Animal Hospital in Wilmington, NC seeks a kennel tech to care for hospitalized patients and boarding animals. Duties include feeding, medicating, cleaning, and assisting with exams under veterinary supervision.

The role requires weekend and holiday availability, ability to handle large dogs and other animals, and careful recordkeeping of medications and patient data. Training on instruments and sterilization is provided.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
• Proper methods of animal restraint.
• Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
• Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods).
• Ability to attend to sick, scared and injured animals sympathetically and patiently.
• Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.

Responsibilities

• Care, feeding, medicating and cleaning of patients in hospital and clients in boarding facility.
• Restocking hospital supplies and assisting with post-operative patients.
• Assisting doctors and staff with restraint and exams; ensure proper recordkeeping of medications and foods.
• Train to clean and sterilize surgical instruments.
