Job summary

Green Summit Animal Clinic in Lincoln, NE is seeking an energetic kennel assistant to join our compassionate team and help care for hospitalized and boarding animals. You will perform daily care, feeding, cleaning, and assist veterinarians, with opportunities for ongoing training and career development in a supportive, team‑oriented environment.

This role requires weekend availability, physical stamina, and a genuine love for animals; comprehensive benefits and a friendly workplace are offered.

Qualifications

  • Previous animal care/kennel experience required.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of all sizes.
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks, including lifting, standing, walking.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning and disinfecting practices or willingness to learn.
  • Compassionate, patient, and calm when caring for sick, injured, or anxious animals.
  • Ability to learn how to administer medications and recognize changes in an animal's condition.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care, feeding, walking, bathing, and medicating of hospitalized and boarding pets.
  • Monitor and document appetite, behavior, medications, and any changes in a patient's condition.
  • Clean and disinfect kennels, treatment areas, and hospital equipment.
  • Wash laundry and restock hospital supplies.
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary assistants with animal restraint, exams, and post-operative patient care.
  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide daily care, feeding, walking, bathing, and medicating of hospitalized and boarding pets.

This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented veterinary setting.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliable team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
