Job summary

DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Portland, ME is seeking full-time Kennel Assistants to join our compassionate team. You will support the medical staff by maintaining a clean, well-stocked work environment and caring for patients while they are in the hospital.

Daily duties include kennel cleaning, laundry, waste management, room cleaning, stocking supplies, and assisting with patient transport and safe handling.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate with co-workers, clients, and vendors in a courteous and professional manner.
• General understanding of animal behavior and knowledge of safe animal handling and transport practices.
• Experience or education equivalent to a High School diploma.

Responsibilities

• Laundry, garbage, kennel cleaning, exam room and isolation protocol cleaning.
• Maintaining supply levels throughout the hospital and animal care for patients (walking, water).
• Assisting with animal restraint and transporting supplies and patients within the hospital, including potential driving the patient transport van.
• Work schedule supports a 3/4 rotating shift pattern with weekend and holiday availability.
