Job summary

ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital Los Angeles is seeking an Inventory Specialist to join our growing team. You’ll ensure shelves are stocked, supplies are plentiful, and inventory is well organized to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities include vendor coordination, ROP/ROP recommendations, JIT ordering, FIFO compliance, and accurate packing slips and drug logs. Experience with EzyVet and SmartFlow is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of EzyVet webinars with respect to inventory management and product organization.
• Completion of all admin level SmartFlow University training.

Responsibilities

• Create a complete list of all vendors utilized by ACCESS hospitals for inventory purposes, and all corresponding items purchased by these vendors.
• Make recommendations for reorder points (ROP) for all regularly utilized items within the home hospital location
• Utilize JIT (Just In Time / pull system) to recommend safety stock levels based on historic and projected usage
• Order inventory to maximize purchasing power for a single ACCESS hospital
• Receive, unpack, and distribute inventory throughout the hospital
• Ensure packing slips match ordered and received items, and send to accounting promptly
• Perform regular inventory audits and compare to sales to identify waste/theft
• Calculate turnover ratio for commonly used items and compare to industry average (5.5 turns/yr)
• Review year-over-year purchasing history to forecast trends
• Enforce FIFO to reduce waste and prevent over-ordering
• Manage controlled drug stocking and drug logs via Cubex or other tools
• Understand EzyVet and SmartFlow integration to troubleshoot inventory and product-code issues on site
• Uphold ACCESS spirit by handling all necessary tasks with diligence
