Job description

Internal Medicine Specialist (DACVIM- SAIM) — Full-Time or Part-Time

Veterinary Outpatient Specialty Center is seeking a full-time or part-time board-certified internal medicine specialist (DACVIM, Small Animal Internal Medicine) to join our growing team. We are an independent, specialist-\u2014owned specialty practice built around a single, deliberate idea: provide high-quality specialty care in an outpatient setting while maintaining your life outside the hospital.

Our owners Jessica Timian, DVM, MS, DACVIM, and Jeremiah Moorer, DVM, DACVS are on site, personally involved, and available. Both have practiced in the Denver metro area for 10 years and have built strong relationships within the local veterinary community.

The Outpatient Model — Why We Are Different:

This role is designed for an internist who wants to practice high-level medicine and still have a life outside the building. Cases are scheduled, worked up, and managed during regular daytime hours, with same-day discharge or transfer when overnight care is needed. — which means:

No overnight hospitalization When a patient requires overnight care, we work with local 24-hour emergency facilities to ensure they receive the continued care they need.
No primary emergency on-call. Your schedule is predictable and protected, allowing you to plan your week and your weekends.
Focused medicine. Your day is built around your consults, diagnostics, and workups — not triage.
Sustainable pace. A model designed to keep excellent internists practicing excellent medicine for the long haul.

Our Team & Culture:

The internal medicine service is central to our collaborative, one-team approach. You'll work alongside experienced, credentialed veterinary technicians and a support team that takes real ownership of patient care. The internal medicine department works closely with our oncology and surgery departments to collaborate on cases that require multi-specialty care. We also offer in-house rehabilitation services and partner with a pain management and sports medicine veterinarian who works with our team twice a month.

Our culture is close-knit, family-oriented, and genuinely supportive. We're looking for a colleague who enjoys working with patients, clients, and the wider veterinary community — someone motivated to be an active, involved member of the whole hospital team, not just a name on a referral report.

Who We're Looking For:
  • A board-certified internist (DACVIM-SAIM), ideally with 2-3 years of experience
  • Proficiency in abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy
  • Someone who thrives in a team-based environment and is kind, collaborative, and enjoyable to work with
  • A clear communicator who values strong relationships with clients and referring veterinarians.
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate internal medicine referrals, build diagnostic and treatment plans, and manage complex medical cases.
  • Perform in-house diagnostics such as abdominal ultrasound, endoscopy, and image-guided sampling as appropriate.
  • Provide thoughtful, current, evidence-based medicine with clear long-term management plans.
  • Communicate promptly and collaboratively with referring veterinarians and clients throughout each case.
  • Mentor and collaborate with the technical team, supporting their credentialing and professional growth.
Facility & Equipment:

Our newly renovated 12,000-square-foot facility is designed around diagnostics and specialty medicine, with the equipment you need to do your best work:

  • GE LOGIQ Totus ultrasound with linear and convex probes
  • KARL STORZ endoscopy equipment, including 7.8 mm and 5.9 mm flexible endoscopes, rigid endoscopy, and 3.5 mm disposable bronchoscopes
  • Digital radiography
  • GE LightSpeed 64-slice CT
  • IDEXX in-house laboratory, including CBC, chemistry, coagulation, T4, ionized calcium, and cortisol
  • Bionet oxygen cages
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base or ProSal (production-based) compensation with NO negative accrual.
  • Health insurance and additional benefit options.
  • Paid time off- 4 weeks per year
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Reimbursement of professional expenses: Veterinary license, DEA, and association/membership dues, Liability insurance (PLIT).
  • CE days and an annual CE allowance to keep your skills current.
The Schedule

Full-time is four days per week, with flexibility to choose your own days. Part-time arrangements are available and flexible. Because of our outpatient model, the role carries no primary overnight or emergency on-call.
