Route 66 Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, seeks a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist to establish and grow an Internal Medicine service within a busy 24/7 emergency hospital. You will shape the service, collaborate with Emergency Medicine, and influence equipment, workflows, and clinical protocols.

Qualifications

• Board-certified internist or residency-trained in Internal Medicine.
• Eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
• Ability to manage complex internal medicine cases in a 24/7 emergency setting.
• Entrepreneurial mindset to develop a specialty service.

Responsibilities

• Establish and develop Route 66's Internal Medicine service.
• Manage a diverse Internal Medicine caseload within a 24/7 emergency hospital.
• Develop diagnostic and treatment protocols based on your interests and expertise.
• Collaborate with Emergency Medicine and other specialty services as they grow.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic capabilities including digital radiology, ultrasound, echocardiography, endoscopy.
• Build relationships with referring veterinarians throughout Albuquerque and the region.
• Contribute to equipment purchases, workflows, and service development.
• Engage in mentorship, continuing education, and professional development through Ethos.
• Explore opportunities for clinical research within Ethos network.
• Foster a positive, team-focused hospital culture.
