Job summary

IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis is seeking a Veterinary Internist to join a progressive emergency and specialty team. The hospital offers an extensive suite of facilities and a dedicated anesthesia team to support complex cases.

You will manage challenging internal medicine cases, coordinate with specialty and emergency teams, and mentor staff while pursuing growth in ultrasound and IR procedures. A strong commitment to patient care and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for Indiana veterinary licensure
  • Board Certification in Veterinary Small Animal Internal Medicine or residency training in Veterinary Small Animal Internal Medicine
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills with experience managing complex medical cases
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and client centered approach
  • A commitment to exceptional patient care and compassionate client service
  • A passion for mentorship, continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing specialty medicine

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex internal medicine cases spanning GI, hepatobiliary, infectious disease, endocrine, hematologic, and respiratory conditions
  • Perform and/or order diagnostics such as ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, and CT
  • Coordinate with specialty and emergency teams on shared patients and transfers
  • Mentor technicians and assistants as part of daily case management
  • Pursue growth opportunities in ultrasound proficiency, IR procedures, and electrochemotherapy (ECT) training
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations
  • Contribute to a positive, team focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning

In your day to day, you will:
