Job summary

Florida Veterinary Referral Center in Estero, Florida seeks an Internist – Small Animal Medicine to join a 24/7 referral hospital. You’ll manage complex cases spanning GI, endocrine, infectious disease, and more, with ultrasound, endoscopy, CT, and collaboration with specialty and emergency teams.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state licensure.
  • Board Certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine (DACVIM).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex internal medicine cases spanning GI, hepatobiliary, infectious disease, endocrine, hematologic, and respiratory conditions.
  • Perform and/or order diagnostics such as ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, and CT.
  • Coordinate with specialty and emergency teams on shared patients and transfers.
  • Mentor technicians and assistants as part of daily case management.
  • Pursue growth opportunities in ultrasound proficiency, IR procedures, and electrochemotherapy training.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful situations.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration and continuous learning.

In your day to day, you will:
