Position Overview:
The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include patient care, examinations, diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgeries, providing nursing care, maintaining medical supplies and records, and overseeing patient discharge.

Essential Position Functions:

  1. Determine animal requirements through examinations, reviews, and diagnostic tests.
  2. Care for patients by monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and wound care.
  3. Support examinations and surgeries by preparing supplies and restraining patients.
  4. Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to provide pet care.
  5. Obtain and verify medications, maintain cleanliness, and update medical records.
  6. Communicate with pet owners regarding patient status.
  7. Maintain and troubleshoot medical equipment.
  8. Manage inventory and supplies.
  9. Participate in educational opportunities to stay current.
  10. Ensure animals are groomed and released properly.
  11. Follow directions and perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Position Functions may include emergency procedures such as monitoring vitals, administering injections, and assisting in critical care, possibly requiring on-call duties.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, with two or more years of veterinary experience, and relevant certification or licensing preferred. Knowledge of surgical preparation, restraint, and emergency procedures is essential.

This role requires physical activity, including lifting animals up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, and possibly climbing or bending. Flexibility with scheduling, including some weekends and holidays, is necessary.
