Job summary

Petco seeks a Hospital Leader On Duty to deliver exceptional veterinary care and customer service in our Vetco Total Care Hospitals. The role directly supports pets and their owners while upholding Petco’s mission.

You will lead technical and client-facing teams, supervise paraprofessionals, and ensure smooth hospital operations in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to wellbeing and standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Preferred at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice.
• Strong leadership and supervision capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and professional under stressful situations.
• Good telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain vitals, and document visits in the EMR.
• Assist doctors with exams, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Handle and dispense medications as directed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor phone lines, schedule appointments, and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist with anesthesia.
• Perform in-hospital treatments and monitor hospitalized patients.
• Train new staff and disseminate knowledge.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and assist with inventory when needed.
• Oversee hospital operations and supervise paraprofessional staff.
