UCSF is seeking a motivated Staff Research Associate II to join the Laboratory Animal Resource Center (LARC). You will support animal health monitoring, diagnostic procedures, and research documentation under supervision of a licensed veterinarian, collaborating with veterinarians, staff, and researchers.

Candidates with backgrounds in veterinary technology or animal care are encouraged to apply; prior animal research experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Strong organizational, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to analyze laboratory reports, summarize findings, and communicate results effectively.
• Willingness to learn veterinary health procedures and animal welfare regulations.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Valid California driver's license and DMV Pull Notice System participation.
• Onsite work Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, with shuttle travel between UCSF facilities.

Responsabilités

• Conduct animal health surveillance for rodents and other species.
• Assist veterinarians with clinical care and diagnostic procedures.
• Participate in rodent sentinel health monitoring.
• Perform necropsies and related techniques as trained.
• Communicate animal health findings and laboratory reports to veterinarians and researchers.
• Draft and maintain SOPs, records, and reports.
• Provide training and technical guidance to staff.
• Support database management, documentation, and administrative activities.
• Assist with health, welfare, and regulated research programs.
