Job summary

The State of Hawaiʻi, Department of Agriculture, Livestock Disease Control Branch, seeks a licensed Veterinarian to perform medical, regulatory, and field activities in detection, control, and eradication of animal diseases under cooperative plans.

Responsibilities include scheduling and conducting veterinary field work, responding to calls from veterinarians and producers, enforcing movement regulations, and implementing emergency disease plans.

Qualifications

• Two years of responsible professional veterinary medicine experience.
• A Hawaii Veterinary License is required.
• A Hawaii temporary permit may be substituted with a permanent license within six months of probation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and conduct veterinary field work for disease control and eradication programs.
• Respond to calls from veterinarians and livestock/poultry producers for outbreak investigations.
• Enforce regulations governing interstate and inter-island movement of animals; implement emergency disease control plans.
