Job summary

The State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture & Biosecurity, Animal Industry Division, seeks a licensed veterinarian to conduct field work and support cooperative State-Federal-Industry disease control programs. Duties include detecting and eradicating animal diseases and coordinating with veterinarians and producers.

Requirements: Hawaii veterinary license or temporary permit, two years of professional experience, valid driver's license, ability to travel inter-island and out-of-state; overtime

Qualifications

• Two years of professional veterinary medicine experience.
• Valid Hawaii veterinary license or temporary permit required with 6-month probation for permanent license.
• Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and wear PPE as required.
• Inter-island and out-of-state travel; overtime may be required.
• Annual medical evaluation to use a respirator per OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and conduct veterinary field work for state and cooperative programs.
• Respond to calls from veterinarians, producers for disease outbreak investigations.
• Enforce regulations governing interstate and inter-island animal movement.
• Implement emergency disease control plans and related activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
