Job summary

Strawbridge Animal Care in Virginia Beach, VA offers an externship experience in a busy NVA hospital environment, giving veterinary students hands-on practice in histories, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry and surgery under supervision.

Externships typically run two to eight weeks, with travel/living stipends available. An additional $500 travel stipend is offered, and externs will build communication skills with the medical team and clients during their rotation.

Qualifications

• Gaining hands-on experience in taking patient histories and performing physical exams.
• Assisting with treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgeries as available.
• Developing communication skills with the medical team, clients, and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to clinical procedures under supervision.
• Participate in patient care planning and medical record documentation.
• Observe or assist in surgical procedures and dental services when possible.
