Job summary

Care Animal Hospital, part of National Veterinary Associates, offers veterinary externships. Students work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain hands-on clinical experience in histories, exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgical procedures.

Externships range from two to eight weeks, accommodating student and hospital schedules. Veterinary students in clinical education can receive travel/living stipends; Care Animal Hospital provides a $1,000 stipend.

Qualifications

• Two to eight week externship duration depending on schedules.
• All veterinary students are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
• Eligible for travel/living expense stipend during clinical portion.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories and perform physical exams.
• Create treatment plans and diagnostic plans.
• Assist or perform dental, surgical, and medical management procedures.
• Enhance communication with medical team, support staff and clients.
