Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) offers externships at its hospitals, giving veterinary students hands-on clinical exposure under supervision from Associate Veterinarians in a supportive environment.

Externs gain experience gathering histories, performing exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and observing or assisting surgeries while improving communication with the medical team and clients.

Qualifications

• Gains experience gathering patient histories and performing physical exams.
• Assists in creation of treatment plans and diagnostics.
• Observes or participates in dentistry and surgical procedures.
• Develops medical management plans and monitors patient progress.
• Enhances communication with the medical team and clients.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories and perform physical exams.
• Create and adjust treatment plans and diagnostics.
• Assist or perform dental procedures and surgeries as appropriate.
• Support medical management of hospitalized and ambulatory patients.
• Communicate with clients and team to ensure quality care.
