Job summary

A leading global pet care organization is offering a veterinary externship in Wisconsin for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. The externship lasts between two to eight weeks and provides hands-on experience in patient care, diagnostics, and surgical procedures. Students will also enhance their communication skills with the medical team and clients. A stipend for travel/living expenses is available. Responsibilities

• Gain experience in gathering patient histories and performing physical exams.
• Assist in surgery and manage patients medically.
• Enhance communication skills with the medical team and clients.

Job description

Students will work closely with the supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in the following areas:

•Gathering patient histories

•Performing physical exams

•Creating treatment plans

•Dentistry services

•Observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures

•Medical management of patients

•Communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients

Hospital Highlights:

•6 spacious exam rooms, a large treatment area, and a well-equipped surgery suite

•Digital Radiography and Ultrasound for advanced diagnostics

•In-house laboratory (Idexx) for comprehensive testing, along with external pathology services

•Paper-lite medical records for efficient documentation

•Full pharmacy with a wide inventory, from established pharmaceuticals to the latest treatments

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at All Creatures Veterinary Clinic are designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
