Job summary

Spanaway Veterinary Clinic, an NVA hospital, offers a Veterinary Extern externship designed to provide hands-on clinical experience. Externs will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to learn history gathering, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery observation or participation, and client communication.

Externships typically range from two to eight weeks, with eligible veterinary students able to apply for a travel/living stipend.

Qualifications

• Two to eight weeks externship duration depending on student and hospital schedules.
• Stipend program available for travel/living expenses.
• Stipend amount for Spanaway Veterinary Clinic: $1,500.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories and perform physical exams under supervision.
• Create and discuss treatment plans and diagnostics with the medical team.
• Assist with or perform dentistry services and surgical procedures as applicable.
• Support medical management of patients and communicate with clients.
