Job summary

Abqpetcarehospital offers an externship for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students to gain experience in small and exotic animal care. Students will work closely with veterinarians to perform tasks such as gathering patient histories, conducting physical exams, and assisting in surgical procedures.

The externship provides a unique opportunity to enhance clinical and communication skills within a supportive team environment. A travel/living expense stipend is available for eligible participants throughout the program.

Pet Vet Roanoke

Pet Vet Roanoke is a small practice with a boutique feel. We practice small animal and exotic animal care.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Pet Vet Roanoke are offered to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
