National Veterinary Associates offers a unique externship experience at Paris Hill Cat Hospital, aimed at veterinary students looking to gain hands-on clinical exposure. Students will work with veterinarians to learn about patient care, diagnostics, and surgical procedures while improving their communication skills. The externship lasts between two and eight weeks, with opportunities for a stipend to cover living expenses.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of veterinary practice and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians at Paris Hill Cat Hospital to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Additionally, externs will have the opportunity to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of their class year, are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. For details, click HERE. The stipend amount for Paris Hill Cat Hospital is $1,500.
