Job description

An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.

Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Most externships at North Lake Veterinary Clinic last from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.

Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and details about the program.
