National Veterinary Associates offers a rewarding externship for veterinary students seeking to enhance their clinical skills in a supportive environment. Externs will work with experienced veterinarians, gaining hands-on experience in various animal care tasks over a 2 to 8-week period, with opportunities for stipends. Join a leading global pet care organization dedicated to empowering its care teams.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital has its own characteristics, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Externs will also have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
