Job summary

Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital offers a Veterinary Externship for fourth-year students to learn under a supervising veterinarian. You will gain experience in gathering patient histories, conducting physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and observing or performing surgical procedures.

You will also practice communication with the medical team, staff, and clients. Externships typically range from two to eight weeks, and a travel/living expense stipend of $1,000 is

Qualifications

• Enrollment in veterinary program, 4th year or clinical portion of education
• Externship participation in hospital setting

Description & Requirements

Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital has 4 fantastic doctors with varying degrees of tenure who all LOVE teaching. We also have 2 RVT's and a 3rd in progress.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. We offer externships to 4th year veterinary students.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount forWoodmoor Veterinary Hospital is $1,000.
