North 10th Street Animal Hospital offers up to a $2500 travel stipend for clinical year externships.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Externs will also have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration at North 10th Street Animal Hospital typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and HERE for stipend program details.
