National Veterinary Associates offers a unique externship for veterinary students to gain hands-on experience in a busy multi-doctor GP practice. The externship aims to enhance professional development through a supportive environment and practical learning, with opportunities for surgery and routine appointments over a flexible schedule. Participants may also receive a travel/living expense stipend.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital has its own characteristics, common features include a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
At Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic, we aim to offer students a broad range of learning opportunities. As a busy multi-doctor GP practice, we facilitate surgical experiences with multiple doctors, routine wellness appointments, and urgent sick visits. We adhere to best practices and offer flexible scheduling, including some evening and weekend hours to accommodate students' needs.
Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on the schedules of students and hospitals. All veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students participating in clinical rotations may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. For more information on stipend amounts and details about the program, click here. The stipend amount for Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic is $1,500.
