Black Dog Veterinary Services is an AAHA-accredited, Fear-Free Certified, Cat-Friendly Practice offering a wide range of general practice services, including preventive care, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, and sick patient exams. We also provide same-day urgent care and complementary medicine options such as acupuncture and chiropractic care.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. They will also have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. These externships are available to 3rd and 4th-year veterinary students.
