Job summary

Qualifications

• Eligibility for or possession of a California Veterinary License.
• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with strong infectious diseases background and emergency response capability.
• Experience in veterinary infectious diseases, bacteriology, virology, molecular diagnostics in a high-throughput lab.
• Experience with quality control/quality assurance and safety in an accredited laboratory.
• Experience propagating/preparing virus, bacteria, toxins, and nucleic acids to meet QC standards.
• Knowledge of veterinary medicine and related regulations for livestock industries.
• Skill with databases and LIMS/StarLIMS for data entry and reporting; ability to interpret complex data.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to report results to CAHFS clients and regulators.

Responsibilities

• 50% - Veterinary Diagnostic Services: interpret results, report to clients, and maintain accuracy in LIMS.
• 25% - Biotechnology: support bench work and related analyses.
• 25% - Bacteriology: perform and troubleshoot molecular diagnostic procedures.
